The Kursaal Centre and the Official College of Physicians of Gipuzkoa (COMGI) have signed a framework agreement for strategic collaboration with the aim of strengthening the position of Donostia / San Sebastian as a leading destination for hosting high-level conferences, meetings and scientific events.
The agreement was signed by Iker Goikoetxea, managing director of the Kursaal Centre, and Carmen Solórzano, president of the COMGI. Thanks to this partnership, registered doctors will have access to specialist support for organising conferences, seminars and scientific meetings at both the Kursaal and the Miramar Palace.
In addition, professionals will have access to advisory services and technical and scientific support for their events through Urumea Eventos, thereby facilitating the planning and delivery of activities related to the health and research sectors.
During the signing ceremony, Iker Goikoetxea emphasised that “this agreement is a natural step towards combining the potential of our facilities with the talent of our medical and scientific community”. For her part, Carmen Solórzano noted that “we want to support our members so that organising a scientific event is easier, allowing them to focus on what really matters: science and health”.
The agreement will initially run for four years and will include a Monitoring Committee responsible for ensuring that the established objectives are met and for promoting the dissemination of content of value to society.
A commitment to knowledge and regional development
The collaboration between the two organisations aims to generate a positive impact that goes beyond the organisation of events, contributing to the scientific, social and economic progress of Gipuzkoa.
The hosting of conferences and specialist meetings will encourage the exchange of knowledge and the continuous professional development of healthcare professionals, promoting medical excellence and contributing to better care for the public.
Furthermore, these meetings will enhance the profile and visibility of medical professionals within their respective scientific communities, consolidating their recognition at national and international level.
From an economic perspective, attracting conferences and meetings linked to knowledge and science will contribute to the development of the region and to strengthening Donostia and Gipuzkoa as an ecosystem of innovation, research and talent.
Through this partnership, Kursaal, Palacio Miramar and the Gipuzkoa Medical Association are reinforcing their commitment to the generation and dissemination of knowledge, consolidating Donostia as a leading hub for science and innovation on an international scale.
