The Miramar Palace today hosted the launch of the 45th edition of the Summer Courses organised by the University of the Basque Country (EHU) Summer Courses Foundation (UIK), which will take place between June and September under the slogan “You think, therefore we exist”.

The event revealed the main features of this new edition, which includes 133 Summer Courses and 29 workshops, with Donostia, Bilbao, Bayonne and Vitoria-Gasteiz as the main venues, as well as a significant presence in other towns.

The presentation was attended by the Rector of the University of the Basque Country (EHU), Joxerramon Bengoetxea; the Basque Government’s Minister for Education, Begoña Pedrosa; the Deputy Minister for University Policy, Xabier Aizpurua; and the Academic Director of the Summer Courses, Idoia Otaegui.

During the event, the role of the Summer Courses as a leading forum for the dissemination, debate and reflection on major social challenges was highlighted, with a particular focus on areas such as education, science, innovation, health and care.

The official opening of the Summer Courses will take place on 30 June, also at the Miramar Palace, with an opening lecture by Daniel Innerarity entitled “The Future of Democracy”.
